Living the St. Sebastian Mission: Where academics and faith align.

Isabel and her family moved to Milwaukee when she was in the 4th grade. Although it was shortly after the school year had begun, Isabel says she was "instantly accepted" on her first day at Sebs.

Isabel describes her time at St. Sebastian School as "foundational" and a place where she developed a "strong sense of self and community." Isabel attended Marquette University where she majored in biochemistry and theology. She discovered her desire to become a teacher her last year there. Following her passion, Isabel obtained a master's degree in education through the Magis Catholic Teacher Corps at Creighton University. 

Today she is in her 8th year at Dominican High School as a member of the science faculty. She developed a senior-level elective course which she teaches called Faith & Science which explores different theories on how science and religion can be integrated into a cohesive Catholic and Christian perspective. Class topics include the Big Bang Theory, evolution, bioethics, and environmental ethics. 

Isabel credits her love for community to St. Sebastian School, and it is that love that led her back to Sebs as a volunteer and parishoner. For the past two years, Isabel has coached St. Sebastian Boys' volleyball. To celebrate the end of the 2023 volleyball season, she said "YES!" and began planning her wedding at St. Sebastian for th winter of 2024! Congratulations, Isabel!
